The Back to School with Joe Buck Celebrity Bee is KidSmart’s signature fundraising event. Local celebrities are teamed up with corporate sponsors to test their knowledge in math, geography and science in an “Are You Smarter Than a Fifth Grader?” style Bee. Held at The Pageant in the University City Loop, the event includes dinner by the bite provided by L’Ecole Culinaire, drinks and a live auction to benefit KidSmart.
All event proceeds including sponsorship dollars go directly to KidSmart’s Free Store program, and all event expenses are covered by the Board of Directors. Founded in 2002, KidSmart works to empower children in need to succeed in school by providing essential tools for learning. Through a free store for teachers, the basics such as crayons, loose leaf paper and scissors are available to economically disadvantaged youth.
